Welcome

Hi, welcome to my blog! This is where I get to post lots of photos from every shoot I do. I hate having to pick just one or two favourites for my website and facebook, so I usually go a bit mad here on the blog! I also tend to ramble on, but I hope you enjoy looking and reading, and getting more of a feel for who I am and what my photography is all about. Be sure to check out my main website too for info and galleries... thanks!

The M family (Spalding Family Photographer)

I'm so lucky that I got to photograph another gorgeous family at my new favourite location before stopping for maternity leave. I will be going back to this spot many more times I think.
Photographing young twins, who are intent on running off in opposite directions (!) is definitely a challange, but I loved every second. Capturing these natural and happy moments between a family is so rewarding :0)

The W-H Family (Spalding Family Photographer)

Wow, how much fun was this shoot?! I love how natural and relaxed the photographs are, just a family being together and enjoying themselves.
I had planned for a nice lush green meadow after the woodland part of the shoot, but got there on the day to find all the grass had been cut and it was more of a hay field! I was worried at first, but now I'm glad it happened because it turned into a hay fight and a lot of laughs!

The Simple Things

A lot of times when you are a photographer you get caught up on striving for perfection. You always want the perfect light, the perfect expression, the perfect picture. Because of this need for perfection, we as photographers, sometimes forget to take shots of the every day. To help us remember these important shots of real life, a group of photographers that I am involved with have decided to start a little blog series called "The Simple Things." Each month we will shoot one of those simple moments in our lives that we have been neglecting with our cameras. At the end of the month we will make a blog post and share our stories. At the bottom of the post we will share a link to another photographer in the group so you can read her story. Then at the bottom of her post she will share the link to another talented photographer, and the circle goes on and on.

This month I dragged my husband and child out to the woods so I could scout it as a place for customer family photo shoots, try out the light etc. Well, I say dragged, and yes I did have to bribe N with a constant stream of chocolate buttons to co-operate with the camera, but of course he had a great time. Who wouldn't have fun squelching around in the mud and hunting for Gruffalo?!

I hope you enjoyed this post. Please don't forget to go and check out the great work of Amber Aileen Photography and follow the circle round..

And here are my previous Simple Things posts for anyone interested and with any viewing energy left :0)

So, I forgot to do this last month! But this month, there was only one thing I knew I had to photograph - Noah's 3rd birthday!

The night before....

Present time in bed (he's loving the fake spider in the bug pot here, but a moment earlier when he opened it and thought it was real as I threw it at him, his face was a different picture!! Wish I caught THAT shot!)
THE bubble blowing dragon! (a couple of months before his birthday Daddy asked what he'd like and he said 'a bubble blowing dragon' after reading about one. Then he would NOT forget about it. Every time his birthday was mentioned he would get excited about getting a bubble blowing dragon. So I Google it to find such a toy - and do you think you can buy one? Oh yes, if you have $4000 to spend at auction on a really rare item from the 60s! Thank goodness he has a wonderful creative Auntie to make this for him, I fear he would have been very disappointed with my sock puppet idea or Daddy dressed as a dragon. Yes, this one even has a detachable head to wear himself :0)  I'll admit, he could look a little happier about it here! He absolutely loves it, but was objecting at this point to the paint smell seeing as his Auntie was up all night painting it...
Watching the Ice Fountain Candle on his cake.... and later having a little rest after all the excitement.
One final blast of energy - because what little boy doesn't love running around with pants on his head, socks on his hands and going crazy with a power tool!

I hope you enjoyed this post. Please don't forget to go and check out the awesome Sonia Trocchio Photography and follow the circle round..

Four little monkeys, jumping on the bed...!

Ok...Yes, it was my idea to put not one but four young children onto a big bouncy bed for a photo shoot. Crazy? Probably. But fun though! It quickly became apparent that trying to get them all sitting and cooperating at the same time was mission impossible, so we went with it and photographed the fun. I love them! I think I might make beds my new favourite place for relaxed family pictures :0)

The cute frames on the pictures in this post were used to create a little photo book for the family. I am so in love with this product, perfect for popping in your bag and showing off to all your friends! Everyone should have one!!

And while we're looking at products, check out the size of this canvas! THIS is how canvas should be printed. Looks amazing and creates such impact in a room (that's my husband holding it for scale!)
Excuse my bad product photography though, in future I vow to light these pictures properly and not take them in such a hurry!)
